For many years, Temple Beth-El has been a supporter of Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger, an agency that provides support to those who provide food for hungry people. As a supporter of this worthy organization, our congregation donates 3% of the money we collect for any congregational meal to MAZON on behalf of those who share in the meal at the Temple. Our most recent donation was made on behalf of all those who attended the communal Passover Seder. Here is an excerpt from the thank you we received from MAZON:
Dear Rabbi Brickman,
Many thanks to you and all the members of Temple Beth-el for supporting our work again this year in such a meaningful way. As you well know, your donation from the congregational seder is both a blessing to us and a lifeline to others, in that it will enable us to get critical emergency food to people in need. At the same time, we advocate for long-term hunger solutions that attack the problem at its root. Now in our 23rd year, MAZON has successfully distributed more than $47 million in support of meaningful and effective hunger relief.
B'Shalom,
H. Eric Schockman, Ph.D., President, MAZON
Temple Beth-El encourages all congregants and friends to visit MAZON's site, learn about their work and support them in their essential work.
