Welcome to our Sunday School and Hebrew School Program, which is jointly sponsored by Temple Beth-El of Jersey City and Temple Beth Am of Bayonne. Children in our joint program benefit from the experience and enthusiasm of Rabbis Brickman and Gladstone, and during the course of the year embark on a curriculum that complements the Jewish calendar. Grade 2-3 Jewish Studies Class 5768 If you know any family who might be interested in enrolling, please have them contact the Temple office. Rabbi Brickman will be glad to speak with any parents who might be considering enrolling their children in our Religious School program.

Who is eligible to attend? Any child whose family belongs to either Temple Beth-El or Temple Beth Am. For membership information contact, Temple Beth-El, 201-333-4229 or Temple Beth Am, 201-858-2020.

When do the classes meet? The Religious School classes for grades K - 8 meet on Sunday morning from 9:30 am - 12 noon.

Teachers include Rabbi Kenneth Brickman and Student Cantor Jamie Marx of Temple Beth-El, Rabbi Gordon Gladstone of Temple Beth Am, Kay Magilavy, Mazi Ferreira-da Silva and Yoni Adika.

Where do the classes meet? The classes meet in the Temple House of Temple Beth-El, which is located at the Our individualized Hebrew curriculum relies on our wonderful madrichim - post bcorner of Kennedy Blvd. and Bentley Ave., as well as in the Temple's main building at the corner of Kennedy Blvd. and Harrison Avenue.

What is taught? The curriculum includes Jewish history, holidays, ethics & Jewish values, the Torah, as well as Hebrew reading skills and prayer. Family Education programs are also offered throughout the year.

What is the role of the parent? Materials are sent home, which will enable parents to reinforce what is taught in the classroom. We also ask parents' participation in our Family Education programs and Family Services.

Once a family joins one of the congregations, the tuition for religious school is $250. No family will be prevented from enrolling a child in our school if there is a financial hardship. Families with such concerns should contact one of the rabbis, and can be assured that all inquiries will be kept in strict confidence.

 

When is registration? Registration is open immediately, so contact either Rabbi Brickman, 201-333-4229 of Temple Beth-El in Jersey City or Rabbi Gladstone, 201-858-2020, of Temple Beth Am in Bayonne. They are available to answer any questions or to provide further information.
