To learn and to teach ...

"O Merciful One, have mercy on us by making us able to understand and discern,
to heed, learn, and teach, and lovingly, to observe, perform and fullfill all that is in your Torah."
- Ahavah Rabbah, Shacharit Service

As all good teachers know, and as we are reminded in every morning's prayers, the connection between learning and teaching is very close.

  • The best teachers are those who never stop learning from their students.
  • Students who pursue their studies motivated by the desire to understand and explain, become the best teachers.

Madrichim at work with 4th & 5th graders

Madrich (seated) workng with Hebrew class students.

At the Temple Beth-El / Temple Beth Am Religious School, many of our post-B'nai Mitzvah students have returned to act as madrichim or madrichot - guides and teachers - for the younger students in our religious school. Their commitment makes it possible for us to successfully implement our individualized Hebrew curriculum (and to have more fun in the process).
Stella, Jacob and Ruby - we couldn't do it without you!
