IHRA Definition in NJ
We Need Your Support for IHRA Definition of Antisemitism in NJ
Everyone in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic’s support is needed to pass the IHRA definition of antisemitism and protections for New Jersey Jews.
What is NJ Senate Bill S1292?
S1292 (introduced by Senators Beach and Singer) would accomplish the following:
- Creates a clear definition of antisemitism in New Jersey based on the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition
- Calls on the State of New Jersey to utilize this definition to determine whether an alleged act was motivated by antisemitic intent.
- Calls on the Office of the Attorney General to establish a public-funded awareness campaign that promotes bias crime reporting in New Jersey. This awareness campaign would include, but is not limited to providing community outreach, training on how to identify and report bias crimes, and provide and disseminate information to the public about the resources available through the NJ Bias Crimes Reporting Unit, including the bias crime reporting hotline.
What is NJ Senate Bill S2937?
S2937 (introduced by Senators Beach and Johnson) would accomplish the following:
- Require definitions of Antisemitism (IHRA) and Islamophobia (UN) be included in the State’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging policies, and in any such policy for recipients of State’s funds.
