Pre-High Holy Day Preparation: Havdalah, film and discussion, followed by Slichot prayers and the installation ceremony for our High Holy Day Torah Mantles. Film: Maktub: After surviving a bomb attack, two low-level mobsters in Jerusalem set out to change their ways and make amends. Becoming flesh and blood angels, they remove people’s prayer notes from between the sacred stones in the Western Wall and set about making those strangers’ prayers come true. In a hilarious way, the film invites questions rich for the High Holy Day season discussion. (Comedy 2017, Hebrew with English subtitles)
